Ashes test - England ends with 336 for seven wickets  [Thursday, July 9, 2009]

At the end of the first day of the Ashes test, Australia's fast bowler Peter Siddle dismissed Andrew Flintoff and Matt Prior before stumps to leave England on 336 for seven. In the 95 balls thrown, the  batsmen Prior and Flintoff managed to add a whopping 86. Flintoff, playing his first test since recovering from knee surgery, and Prior were taking the game away from Australia with their speedy run rate. England, seeking to regain the Ashes after their 5-0 reverse in 2006-07, earlier won the toss and slumped to 90 for three at lunch. Kevin Pietersen (69) and Paul Collingwood (64) then added 138 as England rallied.
