DMK succession issue resurfaces [Wednesday, March 24, 2010]
The fight for succession to the Chief Minister's chair and for the leadership of DMK party resurfaced once again after a short gap of one year. The issue started all over again with Union Minister Alagiri saying that he would not accept any other leader at the state level and at DMK other than his father and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. He was responding to an interview given for a magazine. He explicitly said that no one except his father has the capacity to lead DMK. As the chief minister was requested for his comments, he said that the media should be asking Alagiri. However, with Alagiri's remarks, the belief of the general public that the succession issue has been resolved is proved wrong.
