Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi crtiticized the opposition leader Jayalalitha for engaging in unhealthy rivalry and said that it was up to the state to decide to be a part of the committee or not. The Chief Minister clarified that a satement was prepared anticipating the participation of a nominee, but after the party adopted a resolution against participation in the committee, it was replaced with a fresh statement. The Chief Minister also said that the party considered the pros and cons of the decision and gave top priority to the interest of the state. State law minister Durai Murugan also supported the contention of the Chief Minister and said that the decison of the state did not in any way meant supporting of law framed by Kerala government.
