In a function organized for felicitating the Chief Minister, the CM said that the actors should not be forced to join politics. The Chief Minister was responding to a request made by kollywood actor Ajith who said that attempts to forcefully rope in actors into politics should be curbed. Kollywood super star Rajanikanth who fully supported Ajith's proposition stood up from his seat and gave a standing ovation to Ajith. “If we don’t attend the protest, we are portrayed as anti-Tamils. On the one hand, they want us to participate in political events and on the other hand they threaten us not to enter politics. What is wrong in our entering politics if we are expected to participate in political and social events?”said Ajith. He however won the full support of the film world in this respect.
