Though the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Karunanidhi has made it clear numerous times that he would retreat form the political scene in the next year, his elder son Azhagiri, who was celebrating his 59th birthday said that his father would become the Chief Minster again in 2011 when the state would go for polls. Karunanidhi on the other hand had twice indicated his desire to withdraw from the political arena. He had expressed his desire to quit from politics after the World Classical Tamil Conference in June. However, Azhagiri vowed that he and his brother  K Stalin would work towards the progress of the party. “We will work in the path shown by our leader Karunanidhi and make the DMK retain power.” said he in the back ground of the festivities that was organized to celebrate his 59th birthday.
