AIADMK to protest against proposed land acquisation for wild life sanctuary [Wednesday, January 20, 2010]
The All India Anna Dravida Kazhagm under the leadership of Jayalalitha will organize a protest on January 24th to protest against the state government's decison to acquire land for creating a wild life sanctuary. The proposed land is spread across 75 villages in Kadamalai Mayilai Union and is sure to relocate the natives of that area. The opposition has taken up the issue to avoid any relocation of the actual residents of the place. The General Secretary of the party, Jayalalitha said that she had received information from the forest officials that the crops and the irrigation facilities were damaged by the police and that the police have threatened the people to vacate the lands. The protest of the party to protect the rights of the residents have been taken up by the AIADMK under the leadership of O Paneerselvam, the party treasurer.
