TN government to go strict on dealing with video piracy [Saturday, January 9, 2010]
The Tamil Nadu government issued a strict warning on friday regarding the video piracy that is going rampant in kollywood off late. The government circular warned that persons who engage in similar task will be booked under the Goondas Act. The decision regarding the same was made after the kollywood lead stars Rajanikanth, Kamal Hasan, Sarth Kumar, Prabhu etc met Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at secretariat. The circular said that the convicts would be charged with case under Copyright Act , 1957. The official release also cautioned the film industry to take proper precautions regarding the same before the films are actually releaed in theatres.
