The AIADMK chief Jayalalitha said that the party would protest against the Marine Fisheries Bill ,2009 on December 31st. She accused the centre for pursuing anti fishermen policies in the bill. She also added that the State government has not taken any action regarding the attack of Srilankan navy on tamil nadu fishermen and that the bill was totally against the well being of the community. However, the DMK President M Karunanidhi said that the centre has accepted his appeal and has agreed to postpone the enactment of the bill until after detailed discussions.The State government had also deputed union minister Dhayanidhi Maran to discuss the matter with Union Food Minister Sharath Pawar.  However, the AIADMK General Secretary is firm on staging a protest on thursday.
