The State Election Commission is yet to take decisions on the by election to Pennagaram Assembly constituency. The Chief Electoral Officer Naresh Gupta, after convening a meeting of political parties to discuss the issue said that various views were considered. Both the PMK and the AIADMK has demanded the postponement of the election till January 20th. On the other hand the ruling DMK has the opinion that the election should not be postponed. Education Minister K Ponmudi who represented the ruling DMK said that the AIADMK wanted to postpone the election as they are scared of the results. He said that all that a postponement can do is to postpone' the success of DMK.
