Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi strongly protested against the developing of animosity on the basis of language spoken. He said that language was only a means for communication and that it should not lead men to develop rivalries among themselves. Mr Karunanidhi was attending a function organized to distribute the  State Government's film awards for 2007 and 2008. Mr Karunanidhi also won the award for the best dialogue writer and he accepted his award from Rajani Kanth and Kamal Hasan during the function.
