Subbarao insists on greater penetration of banking services  [Thursday, November 26, 2009]
   
 

                                The RBI governor D Subbarao said that the financial institutions and banks will have to pass through really challenging times in future and the only way to overcome this was to develop an interest in the whole issue. He said that one cannot think of a situation when the banking in India would turn boring and said that the sector had to face mainy four challenges: deepening financial inclusion,financing infrastructure and strengthening risk management to improve efficiency. He also added that the functions of the central bank and other banks have not well penetrated into the indian economy and this was a major issue that has to be addressed in the future.
