The by-elections to Vandavasi constituency and Tiruchendur will be held on December 19th. The elections have arose in a situation where the Tiruchendur MLA Anita Radhakrishnan quit his party to join DMK, and due to the death of Vandavasi MLA S P Jayaraman. The filing of the nominations for the election will start on November 25th and end on December 2. The counting of the votes will be held on December 23rd. The election commission said that the ministers and other authorities should not offer any financial grants in the wake of the by election announcement. The ministers and other public officials are also warned against making any ad hoc appointments to public offices or making any offers to improve drinking water facilities, construction of roads etc.
