The three judge bench of the Supreme Court accepted the plea of Kerala government to look into the suit filed by Tamil Nadu government questioning the law enacted by Kerala to prevent the raising of water level. The bench of judges including  D.K. Jain, Justice Mukundakam Sharma and Justice R.M. Lodha referred the case to Chief Justice of India after hearing both the states. The bench has asked both the states to maintain the water levels at 136ft till further orders and said that both the states had the freedom to approach the court regarding the case.
