The opposition, AIADMK condemned the hike in petrol and disel prices and labelled it as 'unwarranted'. The party also demanded the central government to role back the hike immediately to spare the commoners. The party Geneal Secretary Jayalalitha stated in  apress release that “The UPA government has done it again. By increasing the price of a litre of petrol by Rs.4 and that of diesel by Rs.2, citing increase in international prices, the Congress-led Union government has clearly shown that it has nothing but contempt for the hapless masses who voted it to power… There is no more need for their votes now. So the prices have been increased once again.”
