Bajaj to exit from scooter market [Thursday, December 17, 2009]
Bajaj scooters would soon be part of history. This follows a disagreement between the Group Chairman of Bajaj Auto, Rahul Bajaj and his son Rajiv Bajaj who took over the company a few years ago. Rajiv had decided that the company would completly with draw itself from production of scooters by the end of this year and concentrate more on motor cycle production. However, in his response to the press, Rahul Bajaj said that he was hurt by his son's decision to withdraw from the scooters market. Rajiv on the other hand argued that he gives more importance to logic rather than emotions. The son's explanations have however not satisfied the father. Bajaj currently sells only a single scooter model which is 100 cc gearless Kristal.
