Inaugurating the 17th All India Mango Exhibition on Sunday, collector V K Shanmugam said that an Export Processing Zone will be introduced for the export of mangoes from krishnagiri district.“The project report for the export processing zone is being prepared by the district administration and will soon be sent to the government,” he said.The mango pulp that was produced in the district fetched 500 crore foreign exchange.  About 3.5 lakh tonnes were produced in Krishnagiri alone. The 45-odd pulp units could crush only 2 lakh tonnes and the rest was being sold in the market. “If these mangoes were to be crushed, we will get additional export revenue and the farmers remunerative price for their produce,” the collector said.
