Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi said on thursday that the State government would strive to make Tamil an official language of the Union government. He said that discussions on this would be held during the International Classical Tamil conference that would be held on June 2010. “Efforts for the benefit of Tamil language would not just stop with the classical Tamil conference in Coimbatore but we will make sustained efforts to ensure that it is made an official language of the Government of India" said the Chief Minister.
