Chennai corporation to conduct survey to reason out cause for increasing school drop out rates  [Saturday, December 19, 2009]

The Chennai corporation has decided to conduct a survey in all its 10 zones to study about the reasons for increasing school drop outs in the region. The decision was taken by the Sarva Sikhshya Abhiyan district level committee on friday.  “In response to our tender, several private agencies have submitted proposals for conducting the survey. We are evaluating the proposals. Our non-teaching staff would also take part in the survey,” said an SSA official. According to the recent survey conducted by the organization, around 200 children in the sample survey in the Zone 1 were drop outs. This has motivated the officials to undertake the survey.
