| Recruitment in IIT Madras shows significant improvements [Friday, December 4, 2009] |

The sources from Indian Institute of Technology said that the placement levels in the current year has recovered compared to the levels in the previous years and that the salary packs are also showing improvement. The latest recruitment from the institution saw 63 students being taken by top companies. “We’re seeing an increase in the range of salaries, the number of companies and the number of offers per company, so it’s an overall positive trend on all parameters,”, said Karthik Medarmelta, the Academic Affairs Secretary. The highest salary offered to the students have risen from Rs 22 lakhs in the previous year to Rs 28 lakhs. The authorities also said that there was a significant rise in the number of companies that took participated in the placement process. The big names of the day were as usual, Boston Consulting group, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanely and Tower Research despite the crunch they suffered during the crisis.
