Tamil Nadu concerned about risk of water borne diseases [Monday, November 9, 2009]
The lashing monsoons have implanted destruction to life and prioperty in Tamil Nadu. Now the growing concern that the health specialists have is regarding the increasing risk of diseases which are mainly water borne. The common diseases which the state might experience include acute gastroenteritis, typhoid, dysentery, malaria, cholera and leptospirosis and skin problems. The Chennai corporation has already launched its medical camp in 10 zones and focuses on slum areas. The government has also taken steps to educate and enable the local bodies to address the issue. Each local body has been given a grant of Rs 10,000 to take precautionary measures.
