Japanese govt to allocate Rs 50 crore for new block in Egmore hospital  [Tuesday, October 27, 2009]
   
 

                                         The Japanese delegation who are on a visit to Chennai announced the willingness of the Japanese government to extend Rs 50 crore for a nine floor new out patient block at the Institute of Child Health and Hospital for Children, Egmore. The Japanese council general Kazuo Minagawa said “We are very much impressed at the services offered by the hospital. I am confident the fund will be released early next year, most probably in March,” The delegation who visited the hospital said that they will recommend strongly for the sanction of funds for the building as it was very well seen that there was an urgent need for a new building. The Japanese International Co-operating Agency had previously funded Rs 21.30 crore for the project.
