The United Nations released a stamp of Mahatma Gandhi on his 140 th birth anniversary to mark the International Day of Non Violence. The one dollar stamp was designed by Miami based artist Ferdie Pacheco. The picture of Mahatma appears in red, blue and gold in the stamp. The function was attended by many Indian delegates who spoke reagrding the values that the country derives from the life of Mhatma Gandhi. Hardeep Singh Puri, Indian Ambassador to UN said “In many ways, Mahatma Gandhi previsioned the UN. Much of the work that we do in the area of human rights owes its genesis in the struggle against racial discrimination, which he focused on,” .
