The Srilankan government appreciated the efforts of the Indian government and its timely action to strengthen the security around its New Delhi High Commission.The tamil outfits activist had pelted stones at the building and had ransacked the premises. The appreciation of the Srilankan government was expressed by its foreign minister Rohitha Bogollagama to Indian counterpart S M Krishna. “The Foreign Minister thanked Indian External Affairs Minister S M Krishna for the telephone call and stated that he appreciated the gesture” said the Srilakan foreign ministry statement. The High Commission was subjected to attack by around 40 activist fron the Puthiya Thamizhagam based in Tamil Nadu.
