Strike by commercial pilots continues [Wednesday, September 30, 2009]
The strike by the commercial pilots continued even after Air India agreed to restore their productivity linked incentive. “The management has agreed to reverse PLI but they haven’t made any commitment to pay our three—months arrears. We will call off our strike only when the airline assures us of this,” Captain V.K. Bhalla, representative of the striking pilots. About 400 senior executive pilots have said that they would take mass sick leave to protest against the decision to cut the incentives. “International flights from Delhi to Bangkok, Singapore, Dubai, Kathmandu and a few other destinations were cancelled as some pilots put on duty did not report for work,” said an Air India official.
