The Tamil Film Directors Association came out openly criticising the organizers of Chennai International Film Festival. The Directors Association general secretary Ameer alleged that there was partiality in the selection of movies.
The issue came up during the inaugural function of the festival on Wednesday, when director Leena Manimekalai protested against the exclusion of her film 'Senkadal'. Manimekalai. " 'Senkadal' and 'Thenmerku Paruvakatru,' are not being screened, the two movies which have gone down well with critics and moviemakers. This is a partial decision on the part of organizers," alleged Ameer. Ameer appealed Chief Minister J Jayalaltihaa, who earlier granted Rs 25 lakh to the CIFF, to boycott the event, organized by 'private persons'.
