The current acting President of Tamil Film Producers Council, S A Chandrasehar was elected as the president of the council on sunday. The elections for the same was held during the earlier part of the day. SAC took over as President after former President Ramanarayanan resigned from the post following DMK's defeat in the Assembly elections. His assuming post without elections had come under crticism after which SAC decided to contest the polls.

The competitors of SAC were KR and Dr Srinivasan. T Siva and TG Thyagarajan from KR's Tamilnadu Thayarippalargal Munnetra Ani were elected to the post of vice presidents of the council.Kalaipuli S Thanu from S A Chandrasekaran's Thayaarippaalar Nalan Kaakum Ani was elected as the treasurer, while P L Thenappan and K Muralidharan were elected secretaries of the council.
