Kollywood actress Shruthi Hassan who was initially chosen to play the female lead in Aishwarya Dhanush's maiden directorial venture 3 was replaced by Amala Paul due to the formers commitment on her ongoing Telugu project. Aishwarya had tailor made the role for Shruthi and it was later that she had to withdraw due to date clashes with her Telugu project.

It was then that Aishwarya approached Amala. Amala had initially accepted the project, but later backed off due to date clashes with her other ongoing projects. Aishwarya later got back to Shruthi and decided to proceed with her as her Telugu project was delayed. Yes, Amala couldn't provide the promised dates due to prior commitments. We welcome Shruti Haasan on board the '3' team!" , said Aishwarya. The team reported that the shooting of the flick will soon go on floors after Dhnaush completes all his immediate commitments.
