Speaking about Bollywood flick Peepli Live, ace director Mani Ratnam said that it was an impressive attempt to portray numerous emotions. The director who is not too magnanimous at appreciation films said that the flick was touching and had impressed him thoroughly. He was speaking at the 14th Gollapudi Srinivas National Award function in Chennai, where the director of 'Peepli Live', Anusha Rizvi, was presented with the coveted honour.

Replying to the director's comments, Peepli live director Anusha said that she was extremly happy that she bagged the award. "I believe it will be an achievement if people remember my film after five years. And today is one year since I did Peepli Live. I'm honoured to receive an award for it.", said Anusha Rizvi. Anusha bagged the award for the best debutant director from among a total of 16 nominations.
