A press release from the DMK head quarters clarified the recent controversy that was sparked off by a section of the media. It was reported that in his reaction to ace superstar's appreciation of Chief Minister, former Chief Minister M Karunandihi had asked the actor to concentrate on his health .

However the recent press release said that it was a mistake made by a section of the media and that it was the superstar who has asked teh Chief Minister to take care of his health. “You've seen many ups and downs. Don’t worry about anything. Take care of your health.”, said Superstar in his phone conversation with the former Chief Minister. The press release cleared the air and confusion amongst the public who was suspecting a rift between the actor and the former Chief Minister.
