High court dismisses writ on Ponnar Shankar [Monday, April 11, 2011]
The Madras Hight Court dismissed the writ petition filed on the upcoming flick 'Ponnar Shankar', stating that the flick had indecent scenes which distort the original story on which it is based. The flick is based on a book by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. The petition filed at the High court was dismissed by Justice P Jyothimani.
The petition was filed by M Loganathan, managing trustee of Kongu Kalvi Valarchi Arakattalai.The petitioner said that he ahd wrote in this respect to the Censor Board, but did not receive any reply from them which later motivated him to file a legal petition. The bench who took up the petition said that it was misconceived and hence cannot issue a warrant on the same to the producers of the flick.
