Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi said that the decision to provide tax exemption to flicks with tamil title was mainly aimed at promoting tamil flicks and not to favour a section of film makers as alleged by some. “Some producers and directors have not understood this.A committee comprising Commercial Taxes Secretary, Tamil Development Secretary and Tamil Development Director took decisions on giving tax exemption to films", the CM clarified. He also denied the reports by media that there were political moves involved with regard to obtaining the tax exemption for some flicks. The Chief Minister clarified that the government was not in any way acting in the interest of a few as alleged.
