Kollywood honoured at the 57th National Film Awards  [Saturday, October 23, 2010]
   
 

Kollywood movie Pasanga bagged three national awards at the 57th National Film Awards distribution ceremony in Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. The awards were distributed by President Pratibha Patil. The award for the best child artists went to D S Kishore and Sreeraam. The flick was directed by Pandiraj and produced by Sasikumar. The president also gave away the awards to Amitabh Bachan, Amit Trivedi , Illayaraja etc. Speaking at the function the president said that cinema is an important medium that influences social norms. "Cinema operates within the context of a social scenario and, thus, has a stake in the stability, prosperity and progress of society.All involved in the film industry should consider themselves social leaders and stakeholders in the welfare of people. Striking a balance between entertainment and social relevance is an essential call for the industry and the response will define its role in society.", the president was quoted as saying.
