Veteran Kollywood director K Balachander send a note of appreciation to Madrasapattinam director Vijay for putting up an amazing picture of Madras of the pre independence times through his flick. He appreciated the director and the crew and showered them with praises for their unique attempt in Madrasapattinam. 'I have never accepted the narrow parameters by which the Oscars are decided. Nor do i agree that they represent the best in world cinema. To me the true test of a film's greatness is how it stands the test of time and generations. By those standards, by that benchmark, by that value - Madarasapattinam should last at least as long as cinema lives, if not forever', said KB in his letter to Vijay.
