Veteran director Mani Ratnam is celebrating his birthday roday. The ace film director was different from the others ever since his first debut. All movies under his direction had the unique touch, the Manirtanam touch which could not be replicated by anyone. The director is unique vision gifted to very few artists. His hard work and  his eye for perfection has resulted in the birth of innumerable flicks which are irreplacable. 'Bombay', 'Roja', 'Kannathil Muthamittal' are just a few of his brilliant works.

A speciality of his flicks are that they are all based on a social theme which stems from a small family, or a small romance. This year was exceptionally bright for the director with the release of his flick 'Raavan' starring Aishwarya Rai , Abhishekh Bachan and Vikram in the lead role. His film was much acclaimed from Cannes participants from all over the world . The director will also bag an honarary award from the Italian authortities for the best director of the year.
