Kollywood glamour star Namitha said in a statement to the press that she has refused the invitation made by the Srilankan Government to perform at the IIFA ceremony in Colombo. "I refused the invitation from IIFA to attend the function in Colombo. How can I attend even after knowing the existing problem? It is the Tamil people who made me what I am today.

I will never do anything that may hurt the sentiments of Tamil people who are the reason for my living today", said the actress in her reply. Thus Namitha has joined the league of actors who have decided against attending the function in Colombo. The other actors who have boycotted the function inlcude Kamal Hasan, Aishwarya Rai Bachan, Abhishekh Bachan,Vikram and leading director Mani Ratnam.
