Venice to honour Maniratnam [Tuesday, May 18, 2010]
Despite the great many accolades won for his film Raavan, Maniratnam will now have another golden feather to his crown. Maniratnam will be honoured with a Jaeger Le Coultre' award for the best film maker. The award will be presented to him at the Venice Film Festival. “Mani Ratnam is one of the greatest innovators in contemporary Indian cinema. He helped introduce the auteur concept to contemporary Bollywood.
We are very proud to honour the work of the great Indian director Mani Ratnam.” said Marco Muller, Director of venice film festival. 'Raavan' will be screened at the venice festival in both tamil and hindi. “Raavan will enchant audiences with its stirring drama and entrancing musical sequences. We are proud to be hosting the festival premiere of this wonderful film, which will be presented at the 2010 Mostra in its both Hindi and Tamil version”, said muller.
