Veteran Kollywood comedian Vivek will be providing the comic relief in the much awaited flick 'Mappillai' with Dhanush as the lead. Mappillai will also see the re entry of nepali beauty manisha koirala. Hansika Motwani of tollywood will play the female lead. Director Suraaj who is remaking the yesteryear Rajani flick that goes by the same name said that he has made many changes to the script and that it will be totally different from the initial Mappillai.

"I know the responsibilities of remaking a Rajini film that too with his son-in-law playing the protagonist. At the same time, I would like to clarify that we have just taken the basic plot and made many changes to the script," said he.  "Vivek has been roped in to do a role which is not there in the original version. I am sure he will bring the roofs down with his comic sense.Vivek is playing a school student, who is in plus two for many years. Scenes involving Dhanush and Vivek will be interesting. We have completed 70 per cent of the movie thanks to Sun Pictures." added the director.
