South Indian actors to organize award ceremony to fund orphanage  [Friday, April 16, 2010]
   
 

Tamil and Malayalam film stars will join hands for an award ceremony organised to support an orphanage for children with HIV/AIDS. The programme is organised by World Malayalee Council (WMC) in association with Madras Medical Mission and Kairali Television. The sales proceeds of the programme will go as financial support for the orphanage. Kollywood actor Kamal Hasan who is the ambassador of the initiative said that the proceeds would help in providing medical care to 160 children.  “This is like a tiny drop. There are several lakh persons out there who need such support. We have a long way to go.” said the actor. “We must acknowledge a government's good work irrespective of who is in power.”added the actor. The award ceremony will be held in Nehru Indoor Stadium from 5.30 pm on April 18.
