Indian President Prathiba Patel gave away the National Film Awards at a function in New Delhi. V K Murthy became the first film technician to be awarded the Dada Sahib Phalke Award. Upendra Limaye fetched the award for the best actor and Priyanka Chopra walked away with the award for the best actress. Kangana Ranaut received the award for the best supporting actress for her performance in fashion. Anirudh Roy Choudhary was presented the Swarna Kamal for the best feature film. Arjun Rampal was awarded a Rajat Kamal for the best supporting actor. Shams Patel won the award for the best child artist.
