Nemichand Jhabak's search to find a proper Mammiyar for his upcoming flick 'Mappillai' has not turned fruitful yet. The director was not able to find a suitable actress. Though he approached Anu Hasan and she agreed at the first instance, the director was not very happy with the actress'es demand to be a modern Mammiyar.The search continued and the director was diappointed after approaching many actresses like Nadhiya, Kushboo, and Tabu. Finally the director is planning to ask his assistants to cast Sripriya or Jayapradha. During the quest, the director was promised by Sridevi that she would take up the role if she would be paid 80 lakhs excluding taxes. The amount excusive of taxes would then become 1 crore and ten lakhs. The director chooses to remain hapless rather than agree for this sum.
