Persons with disability stages potest [Sunday, March 22, 2009]
Persons with disability staged a protest on Saturday to condemn the insensitive portrayal of their community members in the Tamil movies. The agitations were launched particularly against a movie Nann Kadavul, where a visually challenged girl opts for suicide to put an end to her sufferings. “Already discrimination against persons with disability is high. With the film justifying mercy killing of persons with disability, several people may consider it alright to exercise that option, which is dangerous,” said K. Gopinath, member of the Tamil Nadu Welfare Board for the Disabled.
