As a protest to the clashes caused between the police and the lawyers, the Madurai Bar Association burnt an effigy of Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy, alleging that he was responsible for the entire situtaion. Another group of 50 lawyers also burnt the effigy of Madurai DIG Krishnamoorthy alleging that he threatened the lawyers during a protest last week. Seven students of Madurai Law College was also arrested for an attempt to observe indefinite fast demanding action against Krishnamoorthy.
