According to the National Mid Term Achievement Survey of Class III , commissioned by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), the Tamil Nadu students stood first in mathematics, language,and reading comprehension skills. The NCERT in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, the State Councils Educational Researcha nd Training (SCERT) and the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) wings of the States initiated the survey in 2007 and the results of the survey were published recently.
