The State Government said on  Sunday that the general strike called by the Srilankan Tamil Protection Movement for February 4 is illegal as per Supreme Court Orders. The Srilankan Tamil Protection Movement was launched by PMK, MDMK, CPI, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Tamil Nationalist Movement and other groups to pool in support for the Lankan Tamils issue. Besides the general strike that they called for on February  4th, they have given a call for black flag marches across the state on February 7th. The State Government said it will take all steps to ensure the maintenance of law and order on both the days.
