State Government to lift the power cut scheme.  [Tuesday, December 30, 2008]
   
 

                 The Tamil Nadu State Government has proposed to do away with the earlier decided 40 percent power cut on high tension industrial units and commercial establishments and 20 percent cut on low tension consumers and low tension current transformer service connections. The government has proposed for declaring holidays for 2 days a week for industrial units , after dividing the state into 6 regions and allowing full operation on the rest five days. However peak hour restrictions will continue for all consumer groups . The new system is expected to come into force from January 1 onwards. The decision was taken at a meeting held by Electricity Minister Arcot N Veeraswamy with industrialists and senior government officials at the secretariat. The peak hour restrictions were providing the board a relief upto 1200 MWs.
