TN government decides to spent Rs 12 crore on srilankan refugee camps  [Monday, November 2, 2009]
   
 

                                                  The Tamil Nadu state government on monday decided to spent Rs 12 crore immediately for improving the infrastructure of the srilankan refugee camps. The Chief Minister has also authorised a group of ministers and district collectors to check the conditions of the camp. The decision regarding this was taken on monday at a meeting attended by eleven ministers and senior government officials. The backward classes minister K K S S R Ramachandran said that around 73,241 persons belonging to 19,340 families were living in 115 camps in 26 districts while there were 31,802 persons of 11,288 families living outside the camps and with the approval of the authorities. The Chief Minoster has also instructed the ministers to ensure that the peole in the refugee camps are treated as tamils and not as refugees.
