TN health ministry set to deal with influenza outbreaks [Thursday, August 6, 2009]
The Tamil Nadu government requested its people to approach either the Kings Institute of Preventive Medicine or Christian Medical College, Vellore for medical test of inflenza A (H1N1). The Health Minister M R K Paneerselvam told reporters after chairing a meeting with officials of the Health and Family Welfare at the Secretariat that the test should not be carried out in private hospitals and laborataries. The minister also said that the government hospitals and the public health department had enough stock of the tamiflu drug, the sale of which is banned in the private retail outlets.
