The AIADMK General Secretary Jayalalitha filed a petition in the Special Court for CBI cases seeking direction to the CBI to provide her with a copy of the State Government's notification giving consent to the central agency to investigate the 'Gifts Case' against her. The 'Gifts Case' was filed against her stating that she accepted 89 demand drafts worth Rs 2 crore, that was drawn in her favour on her birthday in 1992. Ms Jayalalitha argued that the CB-CID had registered a case against her after which the state government gave consent to the CBI to investigate the case.This notification of the State Government was not filed to her and she said unless it was submitted, she will be put to hardship.
