Tirumalai Nayakar Palace to be developed into a tourist centre [Saturday, July 11, 2009]
The Tirumalai Nayakar plaace which caught attention of the people through Maniratnam's blockbuster 'Roja'and 'Guru' will be soon promoted as the major tourist attention.The palace, built by Nayak king Tirumalai Nayakar (1625-1638) and having 248 giant pillars, has been renovated at a cost of Rs three crore.The Indian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and state tourism department will together promote it among both domestic and foreign tourists.
