The proposal for setting up a zoological park near tiruchirapally is on to create a place of rest for ailing and old elephants. The proposal regarding this says that an area of about 50 acres within a 300 acre zoological park will serve the needs. Ramachandra Pathi, Conservator of Forest, Tiruchi said that centre would maintain natural ambience with flora and fauna and adequate water resources for bathing elephants would be created by digging a large pond within the designated area.
